This blog is about exploring the possibility of blending art and science together in organizations life. This blog is about personal mastery in the context of organizational life.
Personal mastery, to me, is both integrating both outer technical skills and inner emotional skills.
We are all familiar with the technical skills – many people work very hard in organizations to develop their technical mastery – the analytical side of their field.
However, the hypothesis that will be explored here is what is beyond technical mastery. Organizations are groups of people coming together for some common purpose – however strong or weak the group energy may be about accomplishing the particular mission or goal of the organization.
True mastery must take into account the ability to enable groups of people, with all their hopes, fears, issues, and beliefs – to function effectively together. This requires the development of a number of both “inner skills” and “outer skills” and blending those together.
Effectively meshing these abilities together will allow organizations and the individuals to function at significantly higher levels of performance and enjoyment.
In short, this blog will explore the connection between mastery of our “internal world” and the results that it can generate in our “outer experience”.
